I Can See Your Ears!

Jonah got a haircut last week, and as Paw Paw says, "I can see your ears!" He has been wanting it cut so he can spike it up like Noah. Well, I can't cut that much off at one time! We are gonna have to do it gradually! He loves it, and I have already spiked it, but it's not spiked to me. It looks more like a mess because it is still pretty long. But, don't tell him. He doesn't know the difference!
He looks so different to me. And, I can see his ears. I just don't know if I like that or not!
Tracy, the girl who cuts it, asked me if I was gonna cry. I said no! I really want to cry every morning when I am brushing the "rat nest" out of it! He had gotten horrible about me brushing it every morning. I even used detangler on it and he would still scream. So my mornings have gotten a little easier!
As I was taking pics of it outside the beauty shop, he said, "here take one of this side, too!" So here you go:
He is starting K-4 next month, and is not too excited about it. So, I used this haircut as blackmail! I told him if he got a "big boy haircut" he would have to go to school. So far, it's working, but we'll see when he has to actually go to school!
My baby isn't a baby anymore!

And, just so you can see what a mess it looks like when it's spiked...check this out:
Funny, huh?

Swimming, Sliding, and Turtle

We have been enjoying the pool!!! We usually swim every day! Since the slide got put up, that is all the boys want to do!!! We have even got Mema and Papa to slide!!! One day, swimming got the best of Jonah and he said, "Mama I want to lay down." So, he made a little tent, went in and got Turtle, and laid in the shade! Isn't this a sight???
After a little while he got up and got in the pool again, and look where he left Turtle:
I told him he might want to get Turtle up because he might get wet. So, he brought him to me and said, "here you hold him, he might be scared."

This was Jonah's first "slide". And by slide, I mean Papa sat him on it about head high and he slid down only part of the way!
Splash!
Getting a little braver!
Noah LOVES it!!!!
He's a sliding machine!!!!
He even does "stunts" while coming down!
They even love jumping in! Noah and one of his many "stunts".
CANNONBALL!!!!!!
Jonah is hilarious when he jumps in. He somehow manages to go head first!
Noah likes sliding the best!
One day Mema came and they got her to go down the slide!
And when Papa came, not only did they talk him into sliding, but they talked him into sliding in head first!!!! (sorry the blurry pic, but I was using my phone and I was trying to zoom)
Splash!
Mema and Noah
This is what Jonah usually looks like at the end of the day!

Pool Construction

This post will bore you, but I wanted to document it for my sake. Some of the pictures are out of order, so maybe you won't get confused. Construction started on May 26, 2011. They dug the hole and it looked something like this:
They came back the next day and set the steel. Leaving it looking like this for a LONG time:
On  June 1, 2011 they came and did the plumbing and on June 8, 2011 they came and poured the floor and back filled. (yes, I realize they only worked 1 or 2 days a week and I was not happy about that) You wonder how they got the concrete to the back of the house? See that big hose?
They pumped it in from the side of the house.
So now, it looks like this:
On June 21, 2011 they came and poured the concrete for the coping around the pool (which is where the rocks will be).
They laid the rock around the pool (the coping) on June 22 and June 23, 2011. Yes, you read right, we got 3 days of work out of these people this week! Leaving it to look like this:
We had to have ALOT of block brought in to build the retaining wall!
They started putting rebar down to pour concrete and it looked like this:
This is where I may confuse you. This next photo is a side view right after they had plumbed and backfilled.
And this is a picture of what it looked like after a big rain we had gotten and was right after they had plumbed and backfilled.
Now we are back on track. They came and put in the liner on July 7, 2011. Bryan pumped water from the branch to fill it. I was amazed. It took a little less that 2 hours to fill it! A 22,000 gallon pool!!!! So amazing to watch!
The pool was getting full...FAST!!!
This is what it looked like at the end of the day:
They came and poured concrete around it on July 13, 2011:
Alot of concrete:
Off track again, we decided to let the boys swim after the water had cleared up. This was on July 11, 2011:
They love it! Sorry, the pics are blurry, my camera lens was fogging up! Alabama heat!!!
This was on July 15, 2011 after the concrete had dried.
This is part of the retaining wall that they poured concrete on. It is gonna have the same rocks as the coping around the pool on it:
And, this is what it looks like today:

They came and put the slide up and the handrails on pool on July 18, 2011.
We have a fence ordered that should be put up sometime within the next few weeks. Also, we have someone that is gonna put stacked rock on that huge retaining wall! The walls will be capped with the same rock that is around the pool. Also, the treads of the steps (in the retaining wall) will be rock. You can see the steps in the picture above in the corner.

Baseball and T-Ball Pics

Shelia, Bryan's sister, took baseball and t-ball pics for us one day. We had them made as a "team", but I always hate ordering from them. They are so expensive and not good quality at all! She did a great job. Now, I just have to sit down and order them!
                                              Look at that pose!
Sweet face!
Jonah's "stance"
He was not very excited about getting his picture made!
Of course, we had to get a "brother" shot!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS ONE!!! (if you'll look closely, Jonah is  trying his best not to crack up at Noah!)
Thanks, Shelia, for doing the pictures for us!
